About Nigel
Nigel Thomas is a passionate landscape photographer whose journey began during a very difficult time in his life. After experiencing a severe mental health breakdown in 2015, Nigel faced some of the darkest times of his life. In search of solace and a therapeutic outlet, he took up landscape photography in 2018. This hobby quickly became a passion and his best form of therapy, helping him to cope with the depression and anxiety.
Initially, Nigel was deeply embarrassed about his mental health struggles, but over the last few years he has found the courage to share his journey through his photos on social media. This act of vulnerability not only aided his own healing but also inspired and helped others facing similar difficulties. His particular love for coastal scenes is evident in his work, capturing the serene and powerful beauty of nature.
Over the past two years, Nigel has become well known for his presentation, “Landscape Photography – My Passion – My Therapy,” which he has delivered to camera clubs across South Wales and beyond via Zoom. His talks have been well received, resonating deeply with audiences and providing a sense of connection and hope. Nigel is also a strong advocate for printing his own work. His prints have been prominently displayed at the various presentations he has made, demonstrating his commitment to the craft.
Nigel is now rolling out his new presentation, “Rejuvenating the Print Scene,” where he will share his expertise on the complete printing process. This presentation aims to breathe new life into the print scene at camera clubs, offering insights into everything from colour space and monitor calibration, paper selection, paper ICC profiles and onto the final print.
Following the success of his first photography exhibition, where he displayed over 100 prints on his favorite PermaJet papers, Nigel is now delighted to partner up with PermaJet.
As a PermaJet Envoy he is eager to share his structured printing process with others, emphasizing that while there is a process to follow, it is not rocket science. Nigel’s new presentation promises to equip photographers with the knowledge and tools needed to elevate their printing game and achieve professional quality results.
Nigel Thomas’s story is one of resilience and transformation. Through his dedication to landscape photography and his willingness to share his personal journey, he continues to inspire and support others, proving that beautiful things can emerge from the darkest times.
